OpenAthens enables seamless, secure access to databases and library resources anytime, anywhere via single sign-on (SSO). Starting on January 11th, 2021, OpenAthens will be your new method for accessing electronic resources. On January 25th, 2021 it will replace all previous authentication systems with one secure login*.
Benefits of OpenAthens:
* Access to the Bloomberg Terminal and D&B Hoovers will continue via standalone accounts and will not be incorporated into OpenAthens.
** Access to EIU via OpenAthens is planned; however, the transition will occur after the OpenAthens go-live date. DOC staff will continue to log into a VPN to access EIU via IP authentication until it becomes available through OpenAthens.
Register now to establish an OpenAthens account. Within a business day, the Library will verify your request and release an account activation email from OpenAthens.
Please note database access is based on a combination of your bureau and your official duty station. You will automatically receive access to all resources you are eligible for and can view this list by visiting MyAthens.
If you are experiencing access issues, you may need to reset your password.
When in doubt, send us an email at research@doc.gov. We check this email regularly and will get to your question within a business day, if not sooner.
